A profile of a typical reader of my magazine would be similar of the typical reader of one of the above magazines research into NME readers show:

as it says in the picture spending habits also play a part in the music scene if you can find out what your readers other intrests are you can try and use these to help you. you would also tend to send this information to adventisers so they know where they can effectivly advertise. and in turn make money for your company.

some solid facts from above that would be similar for my avarage user is the average age of a reader is 24, 69% of readers are male (31% female),92% think its good to be well informed about things, 45% spend alot of money on clothes (higher than national average) and 72% will pay extra for 'quality' goods.

after reasearhing into some other magazine press packs i think an average reader for my magazine would be a male between 16 and 30. middle class proberbly between B and C groups. they would have a fair amount of fashion sence and would buy mostly clothes items from shops like H&M and Top Man. they would most likely have a slightly more interesting job than just siting at a desk and would eat out by buying lunch rather than making it. though the audiences of the three main magazines have similar audiences to mine they do vary nme focuses slightly more on soft and indy rock where as kerrang is abit more heavy and leads away from the audience my magazine will be focusing on. Q magazine is fairly varied and focuses on all sorts of areas in rock including pop rock.

the main task is to create a music magazine including a cover page, a contents page and a double spread page article i am going to create a rock and especially soft rock genre based magazine. this tasks will be a improvement from my preliminary task and hopefully show improvement and development of my skills.

evaluation

this is my finished magazine cover which went alost as expected. it is like my flat plan but the side part saying this month's events is on the opposite side but i didnt take into acount the shoulders of of the picture. if i did it on the right hand side the font would have been too small to read. also my flat plan shows a collage logo but i then realised we could only use pictures we had taken so i had to get rid of that idea.the text box i was using wouldnt blent with the background one thin i could have done to eliminate this would have been to take the picture more profesionally and used enough light to make the etire background the same shade of colour. the cartoon strip at the bottom should be a real cartoon on a relevent topic around the collage unfortunately i didnt have enough time to spend on drawing comic style illustrations.

for the front cover i put the title in the right hand corner as this will catch peoples attention as the title is usually in the centre or left hand side so this will interest people into picking it up and reading it. the title font will be stylish and youthful the picture will.

reasons for this are mainly the blur in the first one. although the second one is more of a medium close up the first one can be cropped to be more of a medium close up shot. also there is more of a natural friendly smile in the first one this makes it look like he actually is enjoying himself. this would be more appealing to the target audience as they would see that they are enjoying them selves and would see that they could have fun attending a college event.

introduction

for this task we have been asked to design and create the front cover and contents page of a college magazine. this will include a medium close up picture, text and a title. my magazine will be based on events to come up in and around the college outside of the colleges 'learning' hours.
